Furnitures in ur house...

FURNITURES...
add a lot of asthetics to your house...

When choosing a design of the furniture we have to be clear of few things :

  • When we keep furniture we should first work out the empty space that we require in our house. Based on that we must get the furnitures...
  • We should always see our own convenience & affordability rather than the looks of the furniture.... We must understand that once we are clear about these things then we need to just see what fits into our house. Once that is clear then it becomes easy for us also to look for furnitures based on those lines whether readymade or to get it made...
  • Always think how DIFFICULT or EASY it is to maintain the furniture ?Because... if we are working people or have less time in our hands which means the maintainence has to be less...
We also need to think "Is it possible for us to clean & wipe the furniture everyday???"

In maintainence cleaning of the furniture is the most important aspect on a daily basis...

If they are wooden furnitures then they have to be polished/varnished after every 5-6years based on your maintainence...

  • Quality of the furniture & it's durability...
If we don't keep any money restrictions then we can get many furnitures but most of us look at the cost & affordibilty also... Sometimes very expensive furnitures don't last because of the quality not being right...!!!

Secondly, if the piece of furniture that we are buying is the most used one in our house & we get a delicate thing then the lasting of that furniture is very less... So durability has to be seen as per the use of that furniture in our house...

    For example...
    * Center tables, Side tables, Decorative shelves are just used to keep things... They are not regularly  moved or used... So this can be chosen in different pattern & styles...
    * Bed is used everyday for sleeping therefore this has to be simple, elegant & durable... This is not something people shift or buy on & off.
    * Dining tables are also in the same category... Most used on a daily basis so needs to be sturdy.

Similarly, we have to analyse the use of all the furnitures in our house & buy sensibly as per our need & space.

a HOME is your space...

A HOME is a place where every individual feels at ease, safe & relaxed...
Every individual needs that space to have something of theirs to feel more comfortable...

Eventually when we make a house we forget to give it our touch & make it our HOME... We just try to place some furnitures & cupboards to just fulfil our basic need of keeping things organised & in a place... Do we really make those things also a part of our home & our SELF....!!!

We all need furnitures & certain basic things in our house but we should always use paints, wall textures, accessories like lamps, photo frames, paintings, a few artifacts & plants alongwith our heart & creative minds to compile & co-ordinate these things & give OUR space a unique blend... which will not only portray our Self Image but also create an aura & a positive energy around us... That space becomes our space & we always get peace in that space...

When couples get married they always have that "tera-mera" thing... which gives the house a very disorganised & divided look... In that case how do you think that couple would enjoy their married life of togetherness...!!!
As couples you should always think of each others mind & become more creative in bringing your ideas together & complimenting the same in your house wherein both the couples should feel the comfort of their space.. & enjoy each others company all their life...

When we have children they too become more conscious of the aura that we have created in our HOME & they also try to be creative in that space... They too LEARN to blend their minds & self to that environment which we have already created... It becomes their space too...

This process goes on everywhere, everytime... If we don't do it... there is no harm... But then what is it that we end up doing to our life...

Our HOME plays a verty vital role in our life & in every decision we make in our life... So always think...
It is YOUR OWN HOME...!!!!

Few textures which are used in a house...

TEXTURE MAKES YOUR ROOM VERY BEAUTIFUL !!!

The room has 2 colours on the wall.. The lighter colour on the lower half of the walls give the room more space & openness.. Plus there are paintings on the dark painted walls so the depth of the paintings also enhances & it does not give the room the dark look... Plus this kind of coloring gives the room a very warm & cosy feeling :)

With minimal of furnitures the green colour texture on the wall gives the room lot of freshness... Even the plain white look of the room is broken & there is more life...!!!

One of the wall has an uneven brick/stone texture wall...
Open wardrobe & the texture is giving the room a very compact look... Everything is placed very organised & neat...
The different color paints on the walls & the ceiling with a stone texture wall over the fireplace is very easy way of doing the rooms... Especially when you have a fire place you can give an exclusive look to the corner... These kind of set up are not much found in India...

Still we can definitely do the same wall textured without the fire place...!!!
Textured wall has the television on it...

This is a typical brick wall texture

Floral panelled wall is a different kind of texture & it can be used as false walls & the texture will make it look like a natural wall...
This can help in removing thick brick walls between the rooms & this kind of panels can be put in place of the walls which will give more space to the rooms...

More textures in different houses....

Sometimes we don't think about textures & wall papers but today with the variety of things available in the market we should let our imagination to work & create a unique space in our house with something new... We are the people who live in our houses...

Shouldn't we make that space as the space which reflects our personality & enhances our desire & creative more...!!!

Wall Textures-2....

Working with brick & stone structures are difficult as there is lot of design aspect which one needs to follow... If you do not have the flair to understand that, people can take you for a ride... But you don't need the flair to understand... If you are just passionate about doing up your home in your own ways then getting involved is the first thing...

Call for an expert & tell them EXACTLY what you want & what is there in your mind... Don't let them take decisions for the same... as it is your space & your heart would be living in that house. Only your personal touch can make it your home...

So talking about texture... you can have paint effects also as textures... changes in paint colours as per the walls or do a combination with paint & a wall paper...!!!

Some textures can be....
This is a wall effect that is created...
again here if you see one wall is textured by giving those uneven effect...
with bright paint colours the effect of a rough wall...
 Green Texture....
Effect with cement & paint... just giving the wall a rough look...
The photos of textures I have picked from the net... There are many many textures which can be worked upon.
You can give them your own ideas too... It all depends on what is the look you want to give to your home & whether your home can blend in these effects too :)

Textures on white & light coloured walls gives a very unique & profound look... If you can maintain whites go for this...

This texture can also be created by tiles as you get these tiles... but when done with white cement the effect is great...!!!

Again work out your costs & then start looking for how to get start the same...!!!

There are wall paintings also that can be done to create a contrast & story in your room... The paintings of bamboos... some floral prints or even the trees... or paintings like Warli goes very well in living rooms & balconies... Even at the entrance to your home if you have enough space getting the wall self painted, can give a very bright & welcoming look to your home...

this is Wall paper... Wall papers can be used in the full room but designs & prints such as the black flowers... must be used only to enhance... Putting this in you entire walls will give the room a very congested look... The room itself will lose its space & openness...

Few more wall paper textures...

wall paper with a texture on it....

Here again one must understand... Wall papers are cheaper than painting & wall textures... But maintainence of the wall papers is higher in comparison with the other...

The Wall textures can be left as is for more than 6-7 years whereas the Wall papers have to be changed after 3-4 years based on the maintainence... Not only that dust gets accumulated more in wall paper...

So don't go for things that are cheaper...
If you have an option to plan for 5-6 years or more wall textures & tiles are better options than wall papers.... But if you have 2-3 years & you don't mind re-doing your home again after that then wall papers can be tried :)

Wall Textures....

When u think about wall textures there are many that can be done... I will put across some of the textures so that you can have some visuals to keep in your mind...

Only thing... these textures have to be just done as a highlight... Just to create a drama in the room... For example.. if u have a huge hall or a good open high ceiling hall then maybe any one of the walls can be textured... Or may be a corner side which is a small wall... or just a panel can be made so as to just give a highlight to the room...

Now what do u mean by "highlight"...
Suppose if you have a plain looking dress when you do some beautiful embroidery on it the dress not only looks interesting, there is some variation & life given to that dress... The emdroidery enhances the dress.. Similarly, the wall textures are also done to the walls of the room just to enhance the room...

Textures should never be a contrast...
As is the texture effect is different but it shoud be matched with the other wall colours or the furnitures & upholestry that you are going to use for that room :)

Some examples for you to have some visuals in ur mind :

This is a rough old look of uneven bricks... They can be painted from in the same colour shades & therefore it remains like this as long as we maintain it...

Few more of the rock looking wall textures....
This is not a brick texture but is created with cement & paint... Now a days you get tiles also for this texture but they do not look as natural as these... They have a plain look...
But textured tiles are cheaper than creating creating texture on the walls...
These are rocky effect... You get these kind of stones which can be made by experts... This texture should be done in a very natural way therefore you need to get a good expert :)

Maintainence of these textures are not so difficult but keeping them clean is a challenge especially these stone & brick texture... So if you have problems of dust or allergy I would recommend either not to have these textures in your homes... or keep some help for cleaning these walls. They have to be dusted everyday especially in a city like mumbai... But the beauty of these textures are that they will never appear dirty even though they are :)
These are very simple neatly placed bricks but there is a treatment done to these bricks & after that they are placed to form the texture.. They can be painted from above or can be varnished to give a finish gloss look... Plus then they become easy to maintain :) The experts can correctly guide you to these textures...

Alongwith all these kind of texture you should put lot of indoor plants. Reason this kind of a wall texture gives the room an outdoor look & when you put indoor plants alongwith the same you can create a lot of uniformity & oneness in the room...
Even though the wall has a contrast look the plants will break that contrast effect & blend it to the entire room....

These wall textures should also be used only to give depth...
So ensure use it in small areas & not the entire wall...
Take expert guidelines for arrangements and their maintainence techniques...!!

Sometimes these textures are very helpful on those walls wherein you have problems of water leaking or dampness... But definitely they are easier than painting your walls regularly...

SOME MORE EXAMPLES OF COLOUR COMBINATIONS FOR BEDROOMS & LIVING ROOMS.........

For the bedroom if the walls are painted in light colours & the furnishings used are of pastel & light shades the room looks plain but as you see in the picture if u give some highlights like the red motif print bedsheet.... and also the Yellow lamp shade....
There is so much brightness :)

The purple/lilac tones give a lot cool effect to any bedroom but also creates a cozy feeling...

That is one of the safest colour combinations for a bedroom... Classic & always acceptable to any generation... No complications even in getting the accessories  that combines to make the whole set complete...

 A bright Kids room...
There are florescent colours to highlight the decoration in the room.... It not only feels fresh but also has a bright look which can blend with any childs thought process :)

Even if the floors are in wood the wall can be given a off-white look... With the green plantation  outside the window & because of their visibility in the room some shades of Olive green also used to enhance the brightness of the room & that helps in breaking the brown colour of the wood & the off-white colour of the wall... The accents of Red also is a highlighter...

Another shade of Olive green & off white... The painting on the wall breaks the plain olive colour of the wall.... Instead of painting you can also make some texture on that wall...

The Green cool colour of the bedroom is making it look more cool & feels like inside the ocean....The Green walls are complimented with the same colour bed linens & upholstery... with a dark green coloured carpet....

You need not have many colours... You can just create light & dark shades of one colour & make all the combinations...

Using COOL COLOURS...!!!!

Hope you understood the story of the Warm colours & how to use them...
More if there are any questions/queries on the same :)

Now let us talk about The Cool Colours.... They are basically colours from the nature... Blue & Greens...

Ofcourse some shades of lilac & pinks also can be a part of the same story.
Any colours mixed with a blue & green can also be used with the Cool colour story... For example to make a lilac u need to mix a lot of blue with red... For an actual lilac u need to mix a lot of white too...
But if you add more red to the blue it will give u a brinjal colour which is more close to the warm colour story... Now all this is a bit technical... Don't get into depths if you are not understanding just understand the basics....

Cool colours like the Blue & Green, even their bright shades can be used boldly as these colours do not generate heat & therefore are in the Cool category... Whenever u see these colours (OBSERVE) you will never feel a strain to your eyes nor will u feel any kind of discomfort looking at them... In Bedrooms these colours work The BEST...!!! You can have them anywhere in the house as they are the safest & one need not think at all before using these colours in youir house....

Yes, if people believe in some colours being good for them & bad for them astrologically or numerologicaly then they need to ask the experts... But mostly these colours are more soothing...

To show you some in a picture form....

Though the Blue is very bright still with the white it just blends...
Many of you would not like the White to a part of their home especially in India because maintaining the same becomes very difficult... Will illustrate some more pictures of blue with different combinations...

Blue is used as accents... Bright but minimal...

This is a Kids Room...
Blue colours as bright as this can be very easily done for children's room
& that has a different look all together...

here with the blue lilac, pink & purple shades are used... Carefully see that the purple & lilacs are not mixed with any shade of blue... You need to be careful with the blue shade... All the blues does not go well with this comination...

It is all about understanding the colours... When you do that you will find it very easy to make combintions... Experts are always available but alongwith them YOU must get involved if you want to call it "YOUR HOME" :)

So first understand yourself & then connect the colours with your personality...

Making expensive homes is only for showing off but making your OWN home is reflecting your personality through that.... So first spend time not money in making YOUR home...

Lights in your home

Lights play a vital role in you home.... What kind of light you should have in your home is a question each one should ask themselves whil...
